Post Prom Hypnosis Shows and Safety
A comedy hypnosis show may seem like fun and games, but for the hypnotist, there's a lot of mental gymnastics going on every minute of the show. I've often said that magic shows are physically more demanding, but hypnosis shows are mentally more demanding. During the show, not only am I trying to entertain the audience, but I'm also keeping a close eye on my volunteers. I need to make sure that no one is getting out of line; everyone is safe and no one is experiencing any health problems.
That's the difference between a hypnotist who has been professionally trained and one who hasn't. I was fortunate enough to receive training from some of the top stage hypnotists in the world. Many who just learn how to do hypnosis "one their own" or from a video series, don't have the tools and training necessary to perform a safe show. They focus on the entertainment aspect of the show, but don't pay much attention to anything else.
Safety has always been a top concern when I'm doing a hypnosis show. From how I place the chairs to how I run the speaker cables to the routines I choose...there's a lot of thought that goes into the safety aspect of the show. But as we all know, accidents CAN happen to anyone, so that's why I also carry liability insurance. In nearly 20 years, I'm happy to say that I've never had to file a claim. I attribute that to the precautions I take at each and every show.
When choosing a hypnotist for your Post Prom or After Prom, make sure you find out a little bit about them and their training. Remember, the safety of your students is going to be in their hands.
